One Year from Now: My Vision for Becoming an AI Strategy Leader
Artificial intelligence has moved beyond experimentation. It is rapidly becoming an executive issue that touches governance, operations, compliance, cybersecurity, talent, finance, and long term corporate strategy. As with every transformative technology, organizations will not succeed simply by purchasing software. They will succeed by implementing AI thoughtfully, governing it responsibly, and aligning it with clear business objectives.
Over the next year, my professional focus is to become an AI Strategy Leader who combines executive legal judgment with practical implementation experience. My objective is not to become another AI enthusiast or technology evangelist. Rather, I intend to help organizations responsibly adopt artificial intelligence in ways that improve decision making, reduce risk, increase operational efficiency, and create measurable business value.
Throughout my career as a corporate attorney and former General Counsel, I have advised executive leadership teams and boards through public offerings, acquisitions, governance challenges, regulatory compliance, litigation, and strategic business decisions. Artificial intelligence represents the next major evolution in executive leadership, and I believe organizations need advisors who understand both the technology and the governance structures required to deploy it responsibly.
Within my own legal practice, AI is becoming an integrated part of how I serve clients. My vision is to build an AI Chief of Staff that supports client intake, legal research, contract analysis, due diligence, transaction management, corporate governance, document drafting, project management, executive communications, and knowledge management. By automating routine administrative and analytical work, I can devote more time to strategic counseling, complex negotiations, business development, and helping clients solve their most important legal and business challenges.
My work extends beyond the legal profession. As an owner and advisor to hospitality businesses, I see tremendous opportunities for AI to improve day to day operations. Rather than relying solely on historical reports, management should have continuous access to actionable intelligence regarding sales performance, labor utilization, food costs, inventory management, customer sentiment, marketing effectiveness, and financial performance. AI has the potential to become an operational partner that helps management make faster, better informed decisions while improving consistency and profitability.
I also believe AI should improve the way professionals manage their own lives. My long term objective is to develop an integrated Executive Chief of Staff that organizes information, prioritizes work, monitors legal and regulatory developments, prepares executive briefings, coordinates projects, and serves as a centralized knowledge repository. Alongside it, a Household Chief of Staff will help manage budgeting, investments, recurring obligations, maintenance schedules, travel planning, family calendars, and personal responsibilities. The purpose is simple: reduce administrative burden so that more time can be devoted to meaningful work, thoughtful leadership, and family.
Ultimately, I intend to build a recognized advisory practice centered on AI governance, executive strategy, and responsible implementation. Whether serving as General Counsel, outside counsel, consultant, or board advisor, I want organizations to seek my counsel because I can bridge legal judgment, business strategy, and practical AI implementation.
That means developing far more than policy documents. My work will include governance frameworks, implementation roadmaps, executive presentations, AI operating policies, workflow automation, and working AI systems that demonstrate measurable business results. Clients should leave not only with a greater understanding of AI, but with practical solutions they can confidently implement.
Success, in my view, will not be measured by the number of AI tools I have learned or certifications I have earned. Those are useful milestones, but they are not the destination. Success will be reflected in tangible outcomes: a more efficient legal practice, stronger business performance, better executive decision making, well governed AI systems, increased personal productivity, and trusted relationships with organizations navigating significant technological change.
One milestone captures this vision particularly well: completing an integrated AI Operating System designed around my professional and personal responsibilities. The platform will support legal workflows, executive decision support, corporate governance, compliance, restaurant operations, and personal productivity within a unified framework. Equally important, I intend to demonstrate the governance model behind it, explain its implementation strategy, quantify its expected return on investment, and present it confidently to clients, managing partners, executive leadership teams, and boards of directors.
Artificial intelligence is not simply another software application. It represents a fundamental shift in how organizations create value, manage information, and make decisions. The organizations that thrive will be those that approach AI with discipline, governance, and strategic purpose rather than chasing the latest technology trend.
My goal is to help lead that transformation.
One year from now, I hope my reputation is not built upon my ability to discuss artificial intelligence. I want it to be defined by my ability to help organizations responsibly implement it, govern its risks, and convert its promise into measurable business results.
